We sell products and we publish opinions, so you should know exactly where our money comes from and what interests we hold. Everything material to how you read our content is set out below.
How We Make Money
Our revenue comes from one source: selling our own apparel directly to customers through this website. We are not funded by advertising, and we do not run display ads or sponsored posts.
We do not currently participate in affiliate programs, and we do not earn commission on sales made by any other retailer. If that changes, we will state it here and mark affiliate links in the articles that contain them.
We do not accept payment, free product, or any other consideration from third parties in exchange for coverage, recommendation, or favourable mention in The Journal.
Our Shop and Our Editorial Content
The Journal exists partly because we sell patriotic apparel and want to explain the ideas behind it. That is a commercial motive and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Where an article touches on something we sell — most obviously our buyer's guides — we have a direct financial interest in your purchasing decision. Our response is to write guides that are genuinely useful independent of us: explaining fabric weight, ring-spun versus open-end cotton, print durability, and how to evaluate country-of-origin claims in terms you can apply to any seller. You should be able to read our buyer's guide, buy from someone else, and still have gotten value from it.
When we refer to our own products in an article, we identify them as ours.
Political Affiliation
Be American Stay Republican™ is an openly conservative brand and publisher. Our name states our perspective; we are not attempting to disguise it.
We are an independent private business. We are not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by, or funded by the Republican National Committee, any political party, any political action committee, any campaign, or any candidate for office. Purchases from our shop are commercial transactions for goods, not political donations, and they are not tax-deductible or reportable as campaign contributions.
No candidate or party has any editorial input into what we publish.
Product Sourcing and Claims
We describe our products accurately and avoid implying more than we can support. In particular, we are careful with country-of-origin language: an unqualified "Made in USA" claim is regulated by the Federal Trade Commission and requires a product to be all or virtually all made in the United States, and we do not use patriotic styling as a substitute for that claim.
If you have a specific question about how or where a product was made or printed, contact us and we will answer it directly rather than referring you to marketing copy.
Payments, Data, and Third Parties
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers; we never see or store your full payment card details. We use analytics services to understand site usage. Details of what is collected and why are set out in our privacy policy.
Trademark
Be American Stay Republican™ and B.A.S.R are trademarks of the business. Use of the word "Republican" in our name describes the political outlook of an independent apparel brand and does not indicate any official connection with the Republican Party.
